Providing the foundation to Empower The Next Generation Of EntrepreneursMersey Youth Support Trust enables young people from some of the most disadvantaged areas of Liverpool the opportunity to create their own positive future by giving them the chance to develop new skills and start their own business.
Through mentoring, bespoke business advice, training and subsidised workspaces, MYST can support up to 26 start up businesses at any one time and it is hoped that in the future we will be able to expand this model in order to reach out and connect with different areas of the North West.
Every entrepreneur at MYST receives guaranteed support for up to 2 years to get their fledgling business off the ground and when they are ready to move on, we ensure that using our established connections they continue to receive guidance if and when they need it.
How MYST Supports Local Regeneration
As well as opening up new opportunities for young people aged 18-35, MYST’s secondary aim is to contribute to the regeneration of the local area in which the MYST hub is based – Kirkdale.
By actively creating positive role models and supporting startups we encourage these micro businesses to employ local people and over the years MYST has created some valued partnerships with many organisations within the local community.
How Our Positive Impact Has Helped The Local Community
MYST was first established in 2012 after it became clear that there was a real lack of support for young unemployed people in the area. Since then, we have supported over 200 businesses who have created 400+ jobs providing a much needed boost for the local economy.
We support any individual who needs our help but we ensure we prioritise those who don’t have a support network around them such as those who are long term unemployed, single parent families, long term health issues and those who have suffered from previous battles with the demons of addiction and abuse.
